FAQs

  • I am currently only offering online therapy services. You may use your smartphone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection to participate in our sessions from wherever you are!

  • Yes. I am solely offering online therapy services at this time.

  • I offer sessions during the daytime hours as well as in the evenings during the week. This is based upon my availability. Contact me to discuss openings that I currently have and we can coordinate to find a time that works for you.

  • A typical individual therapy session lasts approximately 50 minutes.

  • My fee is $150 per (50-minute) session.

  • I am considered an "Out-Of-Network" provider, which means I do not accept any insurance directly. If you would like to use your insurance, then I am able to provide you with a monthly receipt called a "Superbill" and you can submit this to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance provider directly and checking with them to confirm if you have "Out Of Network" benefits. Otherwise, you can choose to see me privately and not involve your insurance at all. See why many of my clients choose this option below.

  • Many of my clients actually prefer to work with me privately and not involve their insurance at all. This is because in order to use your insurance for counseling, a mental health diagnosis is required, and this gets attached to your record. Insurance can also put limitations on the number of counseling sessions you can have, prior to truly completing the process. And by not taking insurance, I’m able to maintain a smaller caseload of clientele and devote all of my focus into helping people. Instead of taking hours each week going back and forth with insurance, I devote that time and energy to my clients, resulting in better outcomes for therapy.

  • You can contact me through this website’s Contact page or you may email me at WakeHavenTherapy@gmail.com or call me at 352-577-9960. We can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals for therapy and we can schedule an initial session at that time.

  • You may cancel a therapy session without being charged 24 hours prior to the scheduled session time. If the appointment is canceled within the 24-hour window, you will be charged for the session.

  • There is an intake packet online that I will send to you prior to our first therapy session. This is sent to your email address via the Simple Practice Portal. You will be navigated to the patient portal where the intake documents can be accessed and completed. The documents are concise and designed to gather important information for therapy to proceed smoothly. These items will help me get to know you even before our session so we can focus our time together on meeting your goals as soon as possible.

  • The first session helps to gather relevant information about the challenges you are facing. We will get to know each other and you will be able to ask questions, as well. We may begin to make connections and identify potential patterns in the first session. We may begin to identify core issues that are underlying the struggles you are currently facing in the first session. We may begin identifying tools that can help you find some reprieve right away. I like to work at a pace that is safe and comfortable for you. I will be gathering information about your needs as well as your strengths and resources that you already have in place that we can draw from. In the first session, we will also focus on setting goals for our work together so we can be sure we are addressing what you came here for.

  • I work primarily with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma, and/or self-esteem issues. My clients are often struggling with relational issues, difficulty understanding/regulating/managing emotions, and may be engaging in behaviors that they experience a sense of shame around. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore these issues on a new level and help my clients to feel better and gain a sense of self-compassion and empowerment as we work together.

  • My approach is client-centered and non-pathologizing. This means that I am focused on your individual needs and am highly invested in the idea that the challenges you are facing does not mean that there is something “wrong with you.” It simply means that you are facing challenges and are dealing with them in the best way you know how at this time. My approach is individualized and based on what works best for the person in the room with me. I have several different therapeutic models that I draw from depending on my client’s needs. Two of the approaches I detail further here are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy, which are evidence-based, scientifically effective approaches to creating positive change and healing in the individual/client. These approaches focus on the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as our relationships with ourselves and the world around us to make necessary adjustments and heal our internal world so that we can show up for life in a new way.

  • There is no specific time-frame for our work together. This is not a “one size fits all” type of thing. My goal is to help you meet your goals for therapy as soon as possible while making sure the changes are sustainable. Some clients may require only a few sessions to meet their goals, while others may choose to continue working with me for months or years. Our timeframe will be individualized depending upon your needs and progress. I do not believe in “keeping” someone in therapy for longer than they need. I will work with you for as long as it is therapeutically beneficial for you and we will work towards meeting your goals at your pace.

  • I do often offer between-session exercises to work on or practice. This will depend upon your needs and goals. The exercises/assignments I offer are designed to help you continue the work and progress made during the sessions so that you can better integrate it into your daily life.

  • This is highly individualized and may change at different points in therapy. Some clients wish to meet twice a week and others every other week. Weekly sessions are also offered. The frequency of sessions depends on your current need as well as what is feasible for you at this time. We can determine in our initial session what may work best for you right now. As our work continues, if it makes sense for the frequency to change, we can make adjustments.

  • I have a passion for music and dance. I grew up performing in musical groups and have a background in musical theater. This is part of why my first job in high school was working Characters in the Disney theme parks. It was a very magical time for me :)
